THERE IS
Let’s just take the physical body as the start of this exercise because it’s the easiest to observe. All day long, you’re noticing yourself in physical action, and every lesson starts with, “There is __________.” This exercise could change the kind of a human being you are; therefore, change your destiny, your future, your fate.
You’re walking downstairs and you say, “There is walking.” As simple as that.
You’re stirring the coffee, “There is stirring.”
You’re closing the door, “There is closing the door.”
You say, “There is ________” and then you remark, describe the physical action, what it is.
“There is writing.” Or maybe you’re watching, maybe you’re listening, or “There is sitting quietly.” Do you have the basis of it so far? “There is ________” Then fill in what you see yourself doing.
What’s the purpose of that? To knock that sick egotism, self-centeredness, and therefore, pain out of your life. You’re detaching yourself from your supposed self. Notice that in your mental conversations, you are always putting ‘I’ there. “I am watching.” The idea is for you to drop the sense of self from it and just know, just see, just realize the physical action. Now, you’re to do this whether you understand it or not. How can you understand it when you’ve never done it before?
UNDERSTAND YOURSELF INSTEAD
Your mistake: Trying to make yourself valuable to other people. From now on, “Instead of trying to get something from other people, I’m going to understand myself.”
