End Suffering on Forgetfulness

by Bill Brown

In Vernon Howard’s spiritual teachings, we get — and forget — what should be unforgettable, such as his statement, “The Kingdom of Heaven is located in the space between two thoughts.” We forget these unforgettable spiritual teachings because there’s an active, malicious and sinister force working directly on our minds and emotions to make us forget these truths. The intention of this force is to keep us distracted from the genuine purpose of our lives, which is to live from our God-given essence, from the Spirit of Truth itself.
Our main aim in this life is to always remember that this is a temporary existence and that our real home exists in a Higher World. To reach this Higher World, we must constantly work to let go of all of the negativity and pain caused by the false nature. The essence is already within us, but it must be uncovered and awakened.
Ordinary computer programs have a fixed set of steps that they can follow, while artificial intelligence (AI) systems change as they take in more information, and have more interactions with human beings.
AI systems have an incredible ability to organize information, images, etc., plus the ability to detect useful patterns that would not otherwise be obvious. In fact, New Life Foundation has used AI systems to compare models for an expensive equipment purchase and to solve a problem related to launching the revised New Life website. In both cases, AI did in seconds what would have taken a lot of time and effort. AI is very useful when used in this way, but it has no ability to replicate the spirit.
About 40 years ago, Vernon Howard amazingly explained all of this in one of his lectures. On September 21, 1986, Vernon Howard gave a spiritual talk that featured this excerpt, a supremely useful illustrative story:
“Once upon a time there was a brilliant scientist — that always means intellectually agile, having
nothing to do with anything above mechanical thinking, brilliant as far as this world is concerned.
He invented a supercomputer… fed it endless knowledge… taught it how to behave in the social world
and in the business world… gave it extraordinary power above all other mere computers…. (It) was made
so much like a human being that (it) began to acquire and express human characteristics… and oh yes,
I hope you’re going to make the parallels here with human life.…”
This sounds familiar of course with what is happening in the world today. To learn more, I recommend getting this lecture which is on MP3 CD, Volume 6.
